It comes as no surprise that Champions League winning coach Jose Mourinho might be on the verge of signing with Spanish giants Real Madrid. Mourinho who last night saw his name go down in the annals of football history as the third coach to win Europe’s prestigious club tournament with two different club’s could begin life in the Spanish capital as early as Tuesday.
Current Madrid coach Manuel Pellegrini is expected to be sacked tomorrow after failing to guide the star studded club to silverware this season. After giving his most clear indication of leaving Inter after last night’s victory, it remains to be seen who will replace him as coach of the Nerazzurri.
“I have won everything I could win and if my decision is what I think it will be – not 100% yet, but I’ve got a good idea – I am going after something that gives me great motivation. I am one of the only coaches to have won the Champions League with two clubs, now I would like to be the first who does it with three.
“I want to point out I have not spoken to anyone from Real Madrid, nor do we have a deal. They are the only club that can tempt me away and give me that new challenge. I reserved the right to take a few days and make my own decision on my future.” Mourinho said these words during the post match interview with reporters.
Mourinho has earned the title of the special one and i think its only fair if we drop the quotations from this phrase and address the history making coach in a manner befitting his stature. Real Madrid will definitely be a new and bigger challenge for Mourinho and the question we should now ask is how many titles can he bring to Madrid.
