Things went pretty much as expected yesterday as the MLS playoff picture slowly began to take focus.
Dallas managed to tie (again) on a last second penalty kick from Kenny Cooper (again). Cooper had another goal earlier and has now scored 18 goals this season, second only to Landycakes. While Dallas continues its impressive run toward the playoffs, one has to wonder about their last two ties. Both were home games. Both resulted from questionable extra time penalties.
Something smells fishy at Pizza Hut Park, and its not the new deep dish anchovie pizza.
While the former Burn were barely getting a point, Kansas City put up a W over the Revs. Jimmy Conrad put home the winner and Hartman shutout NER. New England lost far more than a game though as Captain Steve Ralston broke his leg in the first half and is out indefinitely.
Finally, Chivas got by San Jose, as I feared. SJE now looks pretty much out of it. It was a nice run and it would have made a great story, but the Quakes just do not seem to have enough left in the tank to power their way into the playoffs. The Goats, meanwhile, have clinched their invite to the big dance and just need to get healthier to be a real contender for the cup.
