An old saying, “There’s a two sides to every story”, seems a perfect line to sums up what happened to Ac Milan after their Champions League opening match, as their victory did take a heavy price with the injury of some players.
Starting with team captain, Massimo Ambrosini who was forced to leave the field early in the first half, the bigger blow happened just around 10-15 minutes in the second period where Alexandre Pato suffered another thigh injury and was subbed by Robinho.
This two players injury surely brings a minor concern to Milan’s coach, Massimiliano Allegri as both have been considered as important players for the Rossoneri this season. The latest reports from the fashion capital club’s medical staffs confirmed that Ambrosini and Pato will be sidelined for at least three weeks because of the injuries they suffered.
According to the detailed reports from Milan’s trauma specialist, Dr Piero Volpi, Ambrosini got a sprain on his left knee without ligament damage while Pato suffered another pull on his left thigh muscle. That news does lighten up the heart of many Milanisti as at least the injuries is not that serious and those players won’t be out for a long time.
However, this injuries would also brings up another interesting side of a story in the Ac Milan camp as the absence of Ambrosini and Pato could give chance for other players to fill in the starting spot left by those two. Among some of the names, the likes of Kevin Prince Boateng and Robinho are surely the strong candidates to fill in the empty spots in Milan’s starting line up especially since both of them have been featuring regularly from the bench in previous matches.
Moreover, the potential shown by both Boateng and Robinho when they come in from the bench were exceptional, the two provide new dimension in Milan’s performance especially the Ghanian international who gives more grit and determination every time he plays. As for Robinho, the Brazilian does have some similarity with Pato but still the former Manchester City player is able to provide a different attacking approached that could benefit the Rossoneri in the future.
In short, Ac Milan’s victory in Wednesday brought plenty of sides that are interesting to watch as it could really affect the Rossoneri’s future especially since now they seems to have a better depth compared to last season. Soon we will find out whether the absence of Ambrosini and Pato can actually be a blessing in disguise for the fashion capital club as they might find another alternative and solution that would kept the team strong even when injuries hits them.
