Goals from Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Alexander Merkel and Antonio Cassano were more than enough to seal the victory that the Rossoneri surely needed in boosting again their winning spirit in the league after stumbling into two draws in their last two matches.
Playing in San Siro, the Rossoneri played with nearly their best eleven as Massimiliano Allegri seemed determined to get Milan players’ winning mood back on the running as their Scudetto challengers are getting closer each week. Starting with a new trident of Ibrahimovic, Robinho and Cassano, the fashio capital side looked very sharp up front as the three strikers complement each others very well despite the match being their first test as a trident.
Dominating the game with some exciting slick passing, Milan finally took the lead just before the 20 minute mark after the Swede international finished a fine counter attacking move by Milan with a wonderful curling shot in the penalty box. The goal lifted the home team as they keep on entertaining the crowd with a wonderful attacking moves, however it took them the last minutes of the first half to score their second goal through their youth talent, Alexander Merkel, who slot home Robinho’s cut back with an ease.
The second goal caused a little bit rage from the Bari players as they were protesting that there has been a foul in the process of the goal, although from the replay there’s another controversial episode as Robinho looked to be offside before providing an assist for Merkel. The second half started in nearly the same atmosphere as the first with Milan are still taking control of the game and finally sealing the game through Robinho’s fine close range finish after receiving a brilliant pass from the Merkel.
Several superstitions were made after the lead but saw Milan in some trouble after they were forced to replace their new young talent, Merkel, with Alexandre Pato as the 18-years-old suffered a knock that saw him leaving the field in some pain. More problems arrived not long after that as Andrea Pirlo, who was being brought on as Cassano’s replacement also had to leave the pitch due to having another injury which made the Rossoneri ending the match with 10 men.
The result should be a moral lifting one after the Rossoneri failed to get maximum six points from their last two matches in the league, however the questions would be on the fitness condition of their injured players. Merkel and Pirlo’s problem adds to the current injury issues that already hit Milan before the game with Kevin Prince Boateng, Clarence Seedorf and also Mathiu Flamini were being reported to also have some fitness problems.
