AC Milan Vice President Adriano Galliani has vowed that the Rossoneri will never wear a black jersey again during away matches. This comes after Milan lost 3-0 away to Arsenal in the Champions League last week.
According to Galliani, Milan’s third strip black jersey brings bad luck to the team and he insists that they will return to their yellow strip next season. Truth of the matter is, Milan were poor on the night and not even a change of colour in their strip would have prevented them from losing. It was simply a case of misplaced tactics by Allegri.
“We will not wear that kit again. I tried everything in my powers in order to avoid that we would have to wear it against Arsenal, but the only alternative was playing nude,” Galliani told La Gazetta dello Sport.
“That was the last time that we wore that outfit. We had a yellow kit for a few years, and will return to that colour.”
That said, Milan returned to winning ways Sunday when they beat Lecce 2-0 at the San Siro. Goals from Ibrahimovic and Nocerino were enough to see Milan extend their lead on top of the Serie A table to 4 points after their nearest challengers Juventus stumbled to a barren draw at Genoa.
Juve’s draw was their third straight league draw and a result that pulls them further behind Milan in the title race. With 11 games left until the end of the season, it is starting to look more likely that Milan will walk away with their 19th scudetto.
In other fixtures played on Sunday, there were shock losses for Lazio and Udinese. 4th placed Lazio shockingly lost at home 3-1 to Bologna while Udinese lost 1-0 away to Novara. Roma were 1-0 winners over Palermo while Catania beat Fiorentina by a similar score line.
So in light of all this, do you think Milan can successfully defend their title or can Juve pull a surprise in the remaining 11 league fixtures?
