Good news for Coach Allegri and Milan fans as Alessandro Nesta, Kevin Prince Boateng and Alexa Pato all resumed training today ahead of their Champions League first leg knockout match against Arsenal on Wednesday.
With both teams coming off late winners in their weekend league fixtures, it will be interesting to see how they both approach the game. Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has already stressed the importance of his side scoring an away goal which he believes could the tie in his favour.
In fact, Wenger will be counting on his past experience in the San Siro on his first return to Milan in 4 years. In 2008, Arsenal recorded an impressive 2-0 win over Milan at the San Siro. This was the first time Milan had ever lost at home to an English club in their entire history.
Prior to that victory, Wenger managed to cause an even greater shock 5 years earlier when his beat Inter 5-1 at the same venue. However, though history has been good to Arsenal in this fashion capital, it will be a different scenario this time round.
Milan have what is probably the best attack in the competition and with a full strength squad for Wednesday’s tie and home advantage on their side, Milan will be a hard nut to crack.
Of course Arsenal won’t be easy opposition either, so the match should provide good entertainment. That said, Milan will only emerge victorious if Allegri gets his selection right.
