The dust on the UEFA Champions League Group Stages draw which was just held in Monaco a few moments ago is beginning to settle. Of course, the main talking point for the next 3 weeks until the season actually begins will be Group G the group of Death.
By the time i had turned on my computer, the 8 groups A-H, had already received two teams each from the various pots. My attention was quickly drawn to Group G where Milan and Real Madrid had been seeded for the second consecutive time.
Now, if you are a keen football fan, then you would know that whoever progresses from this group totally deserves it. Without wasting any more time here is how the group stands.
Group G
Real Madrid (Spain)
Ajax (Holland)
Auxerre (France)
Like i mentioned earlier, some of these teams have a history. Real Madrid and Milan met in last seasons Group Stages while Ajax were winners over Milan back in 1995. Back then, Ajax had some of Holland’s finest players with the likes of Kluivert, Davids, Seedorf and Van Der Ser.
Many Milan fans might think they got the short end of the stick however, it could very well be a golden opportunity for the club to end the raging debate that their players are past their prime.
If they could beat Madrid once, then they can do it again. I know that is very optimistic however in football, anything is possible. I won’t make any rush predictions (am still trying to take it all in) but, one thing is for sure, we are in for a very thrilling season.
