AC Milan coach Massimiliano Allegri is confident that he will get a new contract extension with the club as his current deal is set to expire in the summer of 2012. According To Allegri, the club is set to offer him a two year extension that will see him stay with the Rossonerri for two more years.
Allegri who led Milan to their first Serie A title in 7 years last season, will be looking to retain the title and possibly lead his charges to European glory and help the win their 8th Champions title season.
Speaking to Gazzetta dello Sport a confident Allegri said that both the President and Vice president wanted him to stay on as coach.
“(AC Milan vice-president Adriano) Galliani said that I’ll stay until 2014 and I explained to both him and (Milan owner Silvio Berlusconi) that my aim is to remain here,’ Allegri said.
Allegri however maintained that things still need to be ironed out and talks still need to be held before everything is finalised.
“From my part, there is no problem and I never considered the situation to be any different. We just have to wait a little bit, talk and lay everything out.
“It’s true that you never know what can happen until you sign but I reiterate this is not a problem.”
Meanwhile, Milan’s Ghanaian midfielder Kevin Prince Boateng has issued a go get Tevez call to his club saying that his talent and killer instinct will be vital if in the club is to contend for major honours this season.
“Cassano is a champion and we miss him. You just have to look at what he achieved in the first four months of the season. Robinho and Alexandre Pato are as good as him, but Antonio has different characteristics so he can offer something different to the side.”
Milan face Genoa today in a must win fixture if they are to continue piling pressure on leaders Juventus. Mid table Genoa have recorded some very impressive results traditional powerhouses drawing 2 all with Juventus in Turin before beating As Roma 2-0 at home.
They have won 3 of their last 5 leagues matches, drawing 1 and losing 1. Milan on the other hand have won 4 of their last league matches drawing once away to Fiorentina.
The match will definitely be a litimus test for the Rossonerri’s title ambitions. A win do them good especially heading into the short winter break.
