Milan Move Into 1st Place In Serie A

Serie A leaders Juventus lost their hold on top of the table after settling for a barren draw with Udinese at the Stadio Friuli last night. The draws sees Milan pip Juve to top spot although both clubs remain level on 34 points.

There was some good news for Claudio Ranieri and Inter Milan as his side were big winners on the night beating Lecce 4-1 at the San Siro to move up to to 5th place.

The Nerazzurri now head in the winter break knowing that they are firmly back in the race for the Serie A title. Napoli were the other big winners on the night after thrashing Genoa 6-1 to register only their second win in 8 league outings.

Claudio Ranieri who has a turbulent couple of weeks since he took over as Inter Coach seems to have found his a wining formula. Not many people like Inter because once they start wining, they simply can’t stop.

That said, it is great to see the Nerazzurri back to their best. Speaking immediately after the match, a happy Ranieri was quoted as saying that the next major goal for his side was to catch up with the league leaders.

“Today we were unlucky, because we hit the post four times, but then did well to recover from the initial disadvantage,” Ranieri told Corrie dello Sport.

“This Christmas we wanted to win, we always say that we should make a comeback, return to where we really deserve to be. It will not be easy, but we will give everything.

“The team needs to do more, we can and must do much better. The Scudetto? We take it one game at a time.”

With the Serie A breaking for Christmas, a quick snapshot reveals that the top 4 teams separated by only 4 points. The amazing thing is that all 7 teams Milan, Juventus, Udinese, Lazio, Inter, Napoli and Roma all have a chance of winning the league as the points difference between the 1st and 7th is only 10 points.

League action is set to resume on January 7th with Inter facing a serious match against Parma at the San Siro.
