AC Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani has come out to assure fans that the club will not be selling any of its stars this summer. The Rossoneri who have suffered a sting of defeats and draws that have ended their scudetto hopes, are now left to fight for a 3rd place finish with Sampdoria and Palermo.
With tough games against Fiorentina, Genoa and Juventus still to come, Milan are in danger of missing out on a Champions League qualifying spot next season. Rookie coach Leonardo’s decision to stay quiet about his future is only adding fuel to the rumours of his probable departure.
Milan’s latest set back came last week when they suffered a 2-1 loss to Sampdoria. Leonardo was however quick to maintain that he still expects Milan to finish the season on a positive note. The father of three had this to say:
“There’s nothing to say. My only concern at this time is our next four games. The only thing I’m thinking of is the end of the campaign. At this time I am the coach of Milan and my priority is to end the season in the best possible way.”
Galliani also stated that were Leonardo to leave it would be for personal reasons.
“It’s not a problem to do with buying, only that Leo has three children in Rio and sooner or later he will return to Brazil,” Galliani said. “But I believe that this will happen in the future. That is why I will try to convince him to remain.”
With Brazilian starlet Pato attracting attention from Real Madrid and Chelsea and Huntelaar thinking of swithcing to the EPL, Milan need to restore their dominace in Europe and the Serie A if they are to compete against city rivals Inter Milan.
