Serie A champions AC Milan have cooled down talk of Chelsea star Didier Drogba joining the club. Drogba who is out of contract with Chelsea next summer, has been consistently linked with a move away from the bridge.
Now, however, Milan Vice President Adriano Galliani has cooled down talks of the Ivorian star joining the 7 time European champions. Speaking to Italian daily Gazzatta Dello Sport, Galliani said that talks of Drogba and Anelka joining Milan were not realistic.
“Certainly they are great players, in good physical condition,” Ancelotti said.
“They are players of great quality and attitude. I see both fitting in very well at Milan but that does not mean one of the two are going to go.”
Drogba who is only just returning from injury has been very conspicuous for the Blues this season and many believe that the striker is not happy playing second fiddle to under performing striker Fernando Torres.
Drogba has not spoken out on the issue, but his silence can be taken as an indication that he is seriously considering his future career plans. To get a feel of the kind of influence Drogba commands, many fans have said that should he leave Chelsea, then they will no longer be fans of the club.
Galliani has however maintained that though their key striker Cassano is out until June, the club is not keen on signing a replacement. Why should they. With players like Pato, Ibrahimovic, Robinho and Inzaghi on the bench the Rossonerri have enough firepower to defend their scudetto.
“Seriously, it is not certain that we will sign anyone in January. If we did it would be a loan because I promised to keep a place for Cassano.
“Anelka is a major player but I have been in love with Drogba since he played in Marseille.”
With Drogba yet to talk about his future, all clubs and fans can do is speculate, however, it would be a great loss for Chelsea were he to leave.
