Not having much playing time under the new Vincenzo Montella’s regime at As Roma, Jeremy Menez is considering his option in the summer especially if things doesn’t turn around until the end of the season. The French international, who has just starting to spark the Serie A doesn’t find the best of connection with Montella as the new coach isn’t favoring him to play regularly for the Giallorossi. This bad connection could pretty much be the reason for him in leaving the club and look for new advanture elsewhere.
Menez departure possibility arrives from the player’s own statement as he revealed his restlessness with the current condition towards the press, confirming that his future with the capital club could end in a low note since he is not regarded as a main player in Rome. The Frenchmen, who has been playing in Italy for three years, expects more support for him as if the club isn’t confident in his capabilities, he would rather look for job elsewhere.
Since Montella took over, I haven’t been playing as much, My departure is possible. There are three and a half months left and then we’ll see,” Menez said. “I have been playing here for three years, but in order to do well I have to feel people have confidence in me and that I’m important for the club. I haven’t been given anywhere near as much help as others here
Moreover, Menez also felt that Montella isn’t to keen on him as the trequartista stated that the coach’s reason in benching him was because the 23-years-old didn’t fit with the team’s new tactics. The coach’s decision surprised him and probably many football fans as the Frenchman has been one of the most interesting young players in the league for quite sometime now, but the new Roma somehow has kept Menez’s talent at bay for the time being.
“We had the opportunity to talk, but his words did not seem sincere. He said there were some things the team could no longer do and we couldn’t play with three forwards any more. I do not understand the tactician’s decisions, but I must accept them. I won’t deny it is a surprise that I end up on the bench so regularly,” Menez added.
So far Roma have been doing pretty well in the league under Montella, although they can’t be said to be performing brilliantly but still the capital club haven’t suffered a defeat in Serie A till now. This condition might lead into more bench role for Menez until the end of season, and should rumors about the future Giallorossi’s board interest in making Montella’s coaching career permanent in the summer, the talented Frenchman might be heading out of the Italian capital.
