Apparently, the best player in the world debate is fat from over judging from the recent comments made by Argentine football legend Diego Maradona. The Al Wasl coach claims that old age is starting to affect Pele’s Judgement.
Now, it is starting to get amusing watching these fromer greats tearing into each other verbally concerning the best player in the world so to end this debate once and for all (however impossible that may be), we are asking for your opinion.
This time it’s not about Ronaldo or Messi, but rather between Messi and rising star Neymar. But before i give you my own two cents worth, here is what Maradona had to say when questioned about Pele’s recent comments about Barcelona’s Lionel Messi.
“This is maybe due to old age affecting his thought processes,” Maradona said.
“You can’t blame the guy, he hasn’t been doing anything for the past 20 years. I haven’t even seen him in a supermarket. I don’t know what he does.
“Usually, when you see him these days, it’s only at award ceremonies next to the president of Fifa and looking like a doll that’s being moved by remote control,” he continued. “His comments come as no surprise.”
Yeah so you have to admit those comments were a bit funny. Nonetheless, this debate is starting to get boring, very, very boring. So who is the best player in the world?
Messi of course, he deserves it and anyone who argues against that is just being ignorant. However, before you crucify me, let me make myself clear, Messi is an effective player and entertaining (but not as much as Neymar). If you want to get the job done (at least at club level), Messi is your guy.
Neymar on the other hand is a joy to watch. He not only entertains, but he is also effective for both club and country. However, he will forever remain a rising star until he moves to Europe preferably with a big club.
Should that happen, then give him 3 years and then we can come back and compare notes and see how emerges tops. The Ironical thing is that both players do not seem to have a problem with each other.
