A day after being told he is free to leave Manchester City, Emmanuel Adebayor has revealed that he would love to sign for Italian giants Juventus. Adebayor is likely to fall down the pecking order in City with the arrival of Mario Balotelli and on loan striker Robinho.
Rather than warm the bench, Adebayor is looking for greener pastures and he has identified Italy as his preferred destination. The 26 year old Togolese striker has seen his once glittering career fall rapidly in just 9 months after a less than exciting debut season with City.
Ade’s problems were compounded with his infamous goal celebrations and rough play against former club Arsenal and team mate Van Persie. Such is the anger that fans have toward him that in spite of his imminent move there is literally no love lost in the league.
This is not the first time Adebayor is being linked with an Italian club. Last summer, just before he signed for City Adebayor had been linked with AC Milan and negotiations were set to begin before Arsenal’s asking price and Adebayor’s wage demands scared off the 7 time European champions.
Speaking to Tuttosport, Adebayor said that he was sorry to be leaving the Premier League.
“I am sorry to leave the Premier League, but in Europe there are other top leagues,” “Juventus are a great club in which I would like to play.
“Until some time ago I would not have accepted a transfer to other clubs. I wanted to wear the City shirt and have a better season compared to last year, but I know there will not be many chances for me and so I am considering the many offers I have received.”
Despite such a clear and straight forward statement, Manchester City have denied that Adebayor will be leaving Eastlands. City went further to say that Ade will be there new no 9 next season.
“Take it from us everyone, despite reports, MCFC has no plans to sell Emmanuel Adebayor; our new no.9 for this season – and that’s official.”
Again we see the classic hard to get tactic that most clubs have lately resorted to. Personally, i think Adebayor should leave and join a club where he is wanted.
Adebayor is willing to leave but can Juventus meet City’s buying price and his enormous wage demands?
