Man City Held By Stoke As Wigan Stun Liverpool

A deflected goal from Yaya Touré sent Man City back to the top of the Premier League on goal difference ahead of Man United’s match with Fulham on Monday.

For the second time in four days City had to come from behind again as a spectacular Peter Crouch strike, a dipping volley from the corner of the penalty area out Stoke one up. But City got back on level terms when Touré’s shot was deflected past Asmir Begović by Ryan Shawcross’s head. But unlike against Chelsea in midweek, City could not conjour up a winner and could possibly trade United by 3 points come Monday night.

Arsenal consolidated their third-place in the league as they easily beat Aston Villa 3-0. Kieran Gibbs among the scorers with his first league goal for the club. With the London derby between Chelsea FC and Tottenham Hotspur FC, in fifth and fourth respectively, ending 0-0, Arsenal have picked up 5 and 4 points on their London rivals in the last week.

At the bottom, Wigan Athletic boosted their survival chances with their first ever Premier League victory at Anfield, as they beat a struggling Liverpool side. Liverpool have lost five of their last six league matches.

In an emotional game, Bolton returned to action and beat local rivals Blackburn Rovers 2-1m thanks to a pair of goals from David Wheater. The win moved Bolton above QPR (who lost at Sunderland) and out of the relegation zone.
