Juventus are going through some tough times and rumours that the club might do away with some of its players this summer will only agitate the fans more. You have probably hard the age old saying that goes you should not believe everything you read and to some extent it is true however, in Juve’s case, things are a little different.
The ‘Old Lady’ are experiencing turbulent times in the Serie A that have left themout of contentions in all competitions and fighting for a Champions League qualifying spot with the likes of Sampdoria and Palermo. According to the daily mirror, Juventus are prepared to sell their goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon for 30m Pounds to either Manchester City or Bayern Munich.
Buffon is currently the highest paid goalie in the world taking home a cool 5m Pounds every year. If you ask me , the Italy international is worth more than 5m. Juventus are lucky to be in the position they are in. Things could be much worse had it not been for Buffon.
Buffon has made more than 350 appearances for the Bianvoneri ever ince he moved to the club in the summer of 2001. He is Juve’s and Italy’s number 1 choice keeper and will be even at the world cup finals in South Africa. Juventus director Roberto Battega has however insisted that Buffon will not be leaving the Turin Oufit.
“The team will certainly not let itself be distracted by these things,” Bettega told the official club website. “With regards to what was written about a supposed transfer of Buffon I would like to reassure the fans: Gigi is untouchable, he will stay at Juventus” Battega said.
Meanwhile, the club have are also seeking to acquire Fiorentina’s Alberto Gilardino and Sampdoria’s Giampaolo Pazzini. In my opinion both these players would be fine acquisitions. Gilardino just never seems to stop scoring. I wonder why he did not do the same for Milan.
That said, president Jean-Claude Blanc and directors Roberto Battega and Alessio Secco are in agreement that the ‘Old Lady’ needs some fresh blood to help them get back to winning ways.
