Maggio to Return for Napoli Against Juventus?

A positive news arrived for Napoli ahead of their upcoming big match weekend clash against Juventus in Serie A as reports suggested that their currently injured right back, Christian Maggio, will be available for that clash.

According to The Corriere dello Sport, Maggio, who missed out on the latest 2-2 draw against Catania, could be ready for the game in Turin and provide a huge boost for the Partenopei’s chance in troubling the current league runners up.

Maggio’s has been an important player for Napoli especially in the last couple seasons where his presence in the right side of the Partenopei cause lots of problem for opponents’ defense. Being mostly played as a wing back, the Italian international provide lots of attacking threat for every team and defensively he hasn’t been bad either as the player absent usually reduces the Southern Italian side’s strength especially in the right wing.

Maggio’s improvement in the last few seasons has also put him as a regular in the Italian national team setup, mainly under Cesare Prandelli’s helm, where the ex-Fiorentina man becomes a regular starter. Despite mostly being played in an advanced role with Napoli, the 30-years-old managed to provide some balance when Prandelli played him in a full-back which needed more defensive stability compared to the defender’s usual wing back position.

Should Maggio is really able to play against Juventus, it would surely make the game even more attractive as the Italian international will provide lots of problem for the Turin giant especially since now the Partenopei doesn’t have any European commitment. Napoli themselves obviously needs lots of points in the remaining matches this season as they are eying for a chance to steal the third place spot, which is currently being held by Lazio.
