Champions League action resumes tomorrow with some very interesting fixtures. Real Madrid travel to Nicosia to play surprise package APOEL while Bayern Munich will be in France for a crunch fixture against Olympique Marseille.
Madrid who are one of the favourites to make it through to the final, have a rather easy fixture against Cypriot side APOEL. Los Blancos will be aiming to end APOEL’s amazing run in the competition with a game to spare when they meet them at the 23,000 seater GSP stadium tomorrow night.
APOEL will be banking on their amazing home record that has seen them get the better of sides like Lyon, Porto, Zenith and Shakhtar Donetsk. In fact, the Cypriot side are yet to lose at home since the tournament begun.
Madrid on the other hand who are looking to win a record 10th title this season, will be a full strength squad with both Pepe and Ozil expected to return after missing out on Saturday’s 5-1 thrashing of Real Soceidad.
In the other fixture of the night, 2010 finalists Bayern Munich travel to France to face off with A rapidly deteriorating Olympique Marseille side. The French side who were held to a 1-1 draw by Nice on Saturday. As for Munich, they will be looking to make it 5 out of 5 since their emphatic multiple goal thriller begun 3 weeks ago.
The momentum is definitely with the Bavarians, however nothing is guaranteed especially at this stage of the competition. Truth be said, i do not expect APOEL to make it past this round, and though Marseille is a very talented side, Bayern have all to play for as they seek to make it to the finals that will be hosted in their own stadium.
