LLTO Tuesday Review

The second week of La Liga football has wrapped up and let’s take a look at the winner’s and losers of Week Two of Spain’s most coveted league.

Getafe, who was very impressive in their road debut match, would get the fun challenge of playing against treble winning Barca.  Barca proved to be too much for the likes of Getafe winning 2-0.  Ibs would put one in the back of the net and so did Messi.  Barca is still the best squad in La Liga.

That is unless you are a Real Madrid fan.  Then you can claim the exact same thing until the clubs play against one another.  Madrid looked equally impressive in a 3-0 victory over Espanyol. Ronaldo would score late in this one as did Guti.  Racing Santander picked up a critical draw on the road against Atletico Madrid.  Racing played a man down nearly the entire second half, so they are likely pleased with the result.  And speaking of strong teams Sevilla would embarrass Real Zaragoza witha 4-1 stomping at home.

Guiseppe Rossi would score for Villareal, but it wouldn’t be enough against Mallorca.  The clubs finished a 1-1 draw.  Sporting Gijon pulled off the home field advantage against Almeria 1-0.  And Xerez could not win their first La Liga match at home, they lost 1-0 to Athletic Bilbao

Deportivo La Coruna was able to bounce back from a tough opening loss to Madrid by edging out Malaga in a big match this weekend 1-0.  David Villa led Valencia past Valladolid 4-2.  And Tenerife was able to win their La Liga home debut over Osusuna 2-1.  Congrats to the new boys.
