LLTO Picks of the Week

It’s always tough picking games at the beginning of the season because you never know who will be the surprise squads this year and what teams will disappoint.

But with that being said my first week of picks was not too bad.  Finishing 4-3 (I remove ties) in the first week let’s see this week’s predictions.

Getafe was one of the most impressive first week squads, but expect them to falter in their first home bid this weekend against Barca.  Barca can score from anywhere on the pitch and from a plethora of star players and with Iniesta back in the lineup the returning champs look to get only stronger.  Barca wins 3-1 over Getafe.  Atletico Madrid would love to forget about their poor showing on the road in week one.  As would Racing Santander who were embarrassed by Getafe at home 4-1.  Atletico Madrid is too good to be disgraced two straight weeks and should take advantage of the home pitch with a 2-0 win.  Espanyol debuts in their new home against Real Madrid.  Madrid debuts plenty of new players who will experience their first La Liga away victory.  Madrid lead by Ronaldo will win 2-0 over Espanyol.

After losing their first match of the year, Sevilla will reintroduce Real Zaragoza to La Liga football by beating the club at home 1-0.  Villareal, likely upset about their tie against mediocre Osasuna in the first week, should join the win column with a victory over Mallorca.

As for the rest of the matches, Almeria should win on the road over Sporting Gijon.  Deprotivo La Coruna , who lost a close one to Madrid in week one, should beat Malaga 2-1 at home.  New boys Xerez will lose at home against Athletic Bilbao 0-1.  Valencia will be victorious versus Valladolid in a match of alliterative proportions 2-0.  And Osasuna will win over Tenrife 1-0.
