LLTO Picks of the Week (Oct. 3)

After the first full month of La Liga football the Yank is a mediocre 19-12 with his weekly picks.  Thanks to Real Madrid and Barcelona I am over the .500 percent curve, but unfortunately Barca does not play this weekend and Real Madrid has the toughest match of the week against Sevilla.  So in other words the picks just got a lot harder.  Let’s see who will fall on their faces this week and let’s see who will stand triumphantly.

Getafe has not been too great since their open match thrashing that debuted the skills of forward Roberto Soldado, but I like the squad to defeat Osasuna 2-0 this upcoming weekend.  Valladolid hosts Athletic Bilbao this weekend and Athletic Bilbao needs a win if they want to remain a top ten team.  I like Athletic Bilbao to win yet another nailbiter 1-0.

Villareal needs a win like Steve Guttenburg needs to be in a movie.  Any win will do for the V squad, big or small, and the squad should make their home fans happy with a victory over Espanyol.  Still no word on Guttenburg getting a movie offer though.  Valencia will double the total wins by teams with a V starting their name.  David Villa and David Silva should handle Racing Santander 2-0.

Xerez is the worst team in La Liga and they will remain the worst with a loss to Malaga 2-0.  Sporting Gijon can not hang with Mallorca who is red hot right now and should be victorious 2-1 over Sporting.  And in the LLTO Match of the Week we will never pick against Real Madrid even if they are on the road against Sevilla (Well unless they are playing Barca).  But Madrid should win 3-2 over Fabiano’s squad.
