LLTO Picks of the Week

Call me crazy (because I am), but despite Tenerife loss last week to Villarreal 5-0 I still think the new boys will win this weekend.  Why you ask?  Because although Tenerife looked horrid last week this week they get to play Malaga who in nine games has lost seven.  Malaga is in last place and Tenerife sits just outside the relegation zone.  With a win this week though either team can possibly save their season.  Tenerife wins 1-0.

Which Getafe will show up… the offensive juggernaut or the feeble pushovers.  Last week it was the latter, but they were facing Real Madrid.  This weeks home match against Deportivo La Coruna offers slightly more hope for the underdogs, but Deportivo is in sixth place.  Deportivo wins 2-1.  Almeria-Osasuna is another classic match-up of two Jekyll and Hyde type of teams.  A few weeks back I would have given the edge to Almeria, but the squad lost to new boys last week and this week play one of the hottest teams in the league.  I wouldn’t bet against the squad that just tied Barca.  Osasuna wins 1-0.

As for the final matches of the week: Racing Santander should rediscover their offense after an embarrassing loss to Malaga last week and win at home over Athletic Bilbao 3-1.  Valladolid should take care of Xerez 2-1 at home.  It’s usually safe to bet against new boys on the road.  So I will also take Valencia over Real Zaragoza 2-0.  Valencia is right in contention and has had a nice start to the year.  As for the final match Sporting Gijon should handle Espanyol 2-1 in their home match.
