1) Barcelona
This one is a no-brainer. The club has yet to lose a single match this season in league play, and although the proved to be imperfect with a Copa del Rey exit thanks to Sevilla, they still are in perfect position for a double. The club is so strong it is hard to talk about any one single player, but the best player in the world resides in Barcelona and his name is Lionel Messi. They have the most potent offense in the world, but what never gets enough credit is the excellent defense. Just 10 goals so far this year.
2) Real Madrid
Madrid’s big moves have paid off just about as well as you can imagine. They are not in first place, but they are playing against one of the greatest clubs ever assembled. It is a tough race to stay in, but at least los galicticos have kept it interesting this season. I am sure it is only a matter of time before the club fades away, but the lead is only a few matches right now.
3) Valencia
The combination of Villa and Silva makes for wonderful results. The club has proven to be the third best this season and Sevilla is a respectable fourth best squad that has struggled with consistency this year. Valencia, on the other hand, has played the most consistent football of any squad not named Barcelona and should definitely stick around the top four for good this season. The club has one of the best forward pairs in the game today.
