Sporting Gijon-Real Madrid
Sporting has been one of the hottest clubs of late with consecutive wins over Athletic Bilbao and Mallorca. Miguel de las Cuevas has scored four goals in the last two games, so he looks to continue his streak against one of Spain’s toughest defenses in Madrid. Still no Cristiano Ronaldo for this match, but if Raul can continue to get on the board like he did last week then Madrid is still a tough team to beat. Number seven in the league hosts number two in this battle of top ten La Liga clubs.
Once again Villarreal will get a chance to battle for worst team in La Liga even though they failed to secure their first win last week. The Yellow Submarines are the only La Liga team that doesn’t have a victory this year and their lost last week to Xerez was one of the best opportunties they will have this year. Malaga is the second worst team in the league, but they do have one victory this year. If the Yellow Submarines can’t pull off this home match then good luck getting a win anytime soon.
Sevilla dissapointed last weekend on the road against a strong Deportivo La Coruna club, but the squad is still in the top three of the league table and this weekend look to move closer to first place Barcelona who sits four points ahead. Espanyol has been picking up steam recently and won last weekend over new boys Tenerife. This match will be a much tougher test for Espanyol, but this one is between the third and eigth best squads in the league.
