It’s a battle of the flying V’s this weekend when two of the league’s best not named Barca or Real Madrid face off for major top four implications. Villarreal is currently in 3rd place and are ahead of the road opponent by 3 points, but Valencia is coming off of a nice 2-0 victory last weekend and have been one of the more competitive teams on the road this season. Which V club will earn the victory?
Final Pick: Villarreal 2-1
Real Madrid-Athletic Bilbao
Real Madrid is simply terrorizing opponents and Mourinho is continuing to discover ways to win even when he serves a touchline ban. Bilbao has been a pleasant surprise offensively this season with 19 goals in 11 games, but Madrid dwarfs their effort with 9 more over the same stretch. Madrid has earned not going to pick against them status this season. Even when Mourinho is suspended.
Final Pick: Real Madrid 3-1
5th place Sevilla have their sights set on where they want to be and considering they are tied with the fourth place side of Valencia this could be the week to take a clear three point advantage over the Match of the Week squad that faces 3rd place Villarreal. Mallorca has struggled this season to repeat their Cinderella magic of last year and currently sit in 10th place with a poor record on the road of 1-1-3.
Final Pick: Sevilla 2-0
Espanyol is the one of the few La Liga teams that still has a flawless 5-0-0 record at home and the club is enjoying only their second season in their new stadium. Hercules is enjoying the first season on the top tier in style with 13th place results and a few of the most memorable wins of the season. The odds are against the underdogs again, but I think they will beat the impressive home streak with a shock victory.
Final Pick: Hercules 1-0
