Team Overview: Getafe was founded in 1946 and then refounded in 1983. Although the club has not been around for long they have played a considerable amount of time in La Liga. The Azulones have been competing on the top tier of Spanish football since the 2004/2005 season. This season marks their fifth year in a row as a member of the top La Liga division.
Best Performers:
F Roberto Solado 13 Goals, 2 Assists
M Juan Albin 7 Goals, 6 Assists
G Jacobo 1.45 Goals/Game
Highest High: Getafe was able to avoid relegation due to a strong finish to the season. In the club’s last four matches they won two (including beating Osasuna 3-0) and tied two. The eight points the Azulones earned in May would put them into perfect position for the tie to avoid relegation. The club can thank their defense for remaining in La Liga. The D only gave up four goals in the last month.
Lowest Low: Getafe was good when they really needed to be, but over the course of the year the Azulones were consistently unspectacular. In fact the last month of the season would be the only month that the club would win multiple matches in. Also it would be the only month that the club could score more then five points. Getafe needs to improve on their average of only one win a month for the entire season.
Future: Getafe is a solid squad only giving up six more goals then they scored this year, but the team must improve all around if they want to avoid relegation next season. The club had a losing record both at home and on the road. The club must perform better at home next season and improve their record to a winning record in order to remain a La Liga member.
