Leonardo Faces Tough Season Ahead

Former Milan midfielder and newly designated coach, Leonardo, is quickly finding out perhaps why former Milan coach Carlo Ancelotti made the move over to Chelsea.  The Brazilian footballer is finding winning much harder from the sideline then on the pitch for Milan this time around.

Although the season is only in warm up mode right now, it is still a positive to secure good results and Milan has failed at doing so in the preseason.  The club recently lost their fifth consecutive preseason match.  This one to Argentina squad the Boca Juniors in a heartbreaking  shootout.  Leonardo, who still is searching for his first career coaching win, was able to take some positive results from the gut-wrenching competition.

It appears the coach has happily found a new set offensive piece in Thiago Silva, “I saw a Milan with great character.  Thiago Silva can be an added bonus for us going forward, particularly from set-pieces. The two goals he has scored in preseason confirm that he is attack-minded. He really wants to learn and is improving all the time. I think he is going to do well for us.”

Leonardo will need guys like Silva to step up and deliver.  With the critical loss of Kaka in the middle of the pitch the club will need all the help they can get this year from Ronaldinho and company.  It will likely be a tough year on Leonardo who is taking over a club that still has a lot of needs clearly unfulfilled with the season shortly approaching.
