Serie A Sunday fixtures provide mainly dull events especially the afternoon matches which mostly ended with a 0-0 draw, including the results for two current league leaders, Juventus and Udinese.
However, those dullness were ended by a cracking and thrilling finish as the Rome Derby provides plenty action with Lazio edging 10-men As Roma right in the final minutes of the match.
Klose Wins Lazio At the Derby
After witnessing a pretty disappointing matches in Serie A which saw Juventus and Udinese grabbed a point on their travels as Antonio Conte’s team held Chievo, while Francesco Guidolin’s team holding on Atalanta’s wave of attack, the Sunday football fixtures in Italy was raised by the Rome Derby. In the game which saw Lazio nicking a late winning goal, all around action pretty much happened and set the capital city completely on fire.
Roma actually started the Derby in an excellent fashion as they took the lead very early from Pablo Osvaldo’s good finish inside the penalty area after receiving a lovely chip pass from Miralem Pjanic. The goal spurred Lazio up as they pile up on the pressure but the Giallorossi were continuously dangerous from the counter especially with the movement of their wing backs, notably Jose Angel, whose really active down the left flank.
Lazio’s determination did finally paid off heavily in the second half as they earned a penalty after Christian Brocchi was tug down by Simon Kjaer, which also resulted in the dismissal of the Danish international since he was standing as the last man in defense. Hernanes successfully converted the penalty and boosted the home team’s confidence that they can finally grab a victory over their local rival after failing to do so in the last few matches.
After several close goal scoring chances, the Biancocelesti finally got the winning goal they’re looking for right in injury time after Miroslav Klose successfully placed his shot pass Marteen Stekelenburg. The victory is being cherished a lot by their players and also coach, Edy Reja, as it was an important statement which could erase the disappointment after failing to get any single victories in prevoius Rome Derby.
Overall, the result of this weekend pretty much proved how tight the Serie A is since the current league leaders, can’t really be to comfortable with their position as many teams are breathing behind their neck. Meanwhile, the defending champion, Ac Milan, might still be sitting in mid table but in terms of points they’re actually only four points away from the joint top Zebras. Juventus and Udinese, proving that things could easily changes in the table in the next few matches.
