Lazio v AC Milan Preview

AC Milan travel south to Rome for a must win clash against Lazio tomorrow night. The Rossoneri are looking to get their campaign back on the road after their last two league fixtures ended with negative results pushing them down to 10th place in the league standings.

Massimo Allegri is a man under seige. With some of the best talent in the world, he will be at pains to explain anything other than a win to his employers or the fans. Saturday’s 1 all draw at the  San Siro left many asking whether Milan can pose any real threat to Inter’s Dominance.

To be honest, i think Boateng has proved to be the best summer signing Milan made. The Ghanaian’s versatility allows him to play anywhere in midfield something many Milanista fans have not seen in a very long time.

Milan do have another bright talent in Robinho, however, the Brazilian is yet to set the San Siro alight with his flashy skills. Ibrahimovic might be a deadly striker but, under Allegri’s formation, we are yet to see at his best.

These are the problems Allegri has to deal when selecting his starting 11. Milan are winless in their last four trips on the road and if history is anything to go by, then tomorrow’s fixture in the capital will be an entertaining fixtures.

Milan have never lost to Lazio in their last 6 outing dating back to 2008. Moreover, Milan have won 4 of these fixtures in Lazio’s own backyard only drawing 1-1 twice at the San Siro. This should be good news for Allegri ahead of tomorrow’s match.

Team news

Lazio on the other hand are in 4th place in the league. This and the fact that they are playing at home should be enough motivation to see off the Rossoneri. Coach Eddy Reja should have a full strength squad available for selection with only Javier Garrido set to miss the match.

Milan will be without mercurial forward Pato, Ambrossini and Flamini who is recovering from injury.

Coach Reja is expected to line his squad in a 4-3-1-2 formation with Tomasso Rocchi and Mauro Zarate partnering up in attack. Mauri will play right behind the pair as the link man. the three man midfield will comprise of Meghni, Da Silva and Brocchi. The defense line will be consist of  Stendardo, Diakite, Dias and Lichtsteiner. Muslera will be in goal.

With Pato out, Allegri is likely to play a 4-3-3 formation with Ibrahimovic, Ronaldinho,Inzaghi in attack, Seedorf, Pirlo, Boateng in midfield, Zambrotta, Nesta, Bonera and Antonini in Defense. Abbiati will be between the posts.

Considering history and the current form of both sides, i predict a 1-1 draw.
