Injury problems apparently are also lurking closely on Lazio’s camp as after already losing Christian Brocchi for the remaining matches this season, another important player, Hernanes, is also following the same route.
Reports in Italy revealed that the Brazilian midfielder suffered a first to second degree strain on his thigh, an injury which would likely forced him out for around four or six weeks, simply not giving any time to play again this season.
Hernanes’ picked up the injury during Lazio’s match against Lecce on the weekend, and the scanning revealed something that isn’t favorable for the capital side. The Brazilian’s absence along with Brocchi will definitely troubled their Champions League spot battle as they also have several other players with minor problems already, including German striker, Miroslav Klose.
Hernanes himself has been touted as one of Lazio’s important player, although his performance has been rather inconsistent this season, but the Brazilian can still produce some magic moments once in a while. The Biancocelesti’s coach, Edy Reja, has also revealed his concern over his team’s injury problems, admitting that this situation could really be the one jeopardizing his team’s chance in securing that important third spot.
At the moment Lazio are still pretty much secure on third place with three points ahead of their closest rival, Udinese, but there are still several other teams such as As Roma, Inter Milan and Napoli who could challenge that final Champions League spot. With five games still to play in Serie A, anything could happen in that race, especially considering all of those teams seemed lack consistency in getting positive results.
