Shortly after As Roma through their director, Walter Sabatini, claimed that they are off the market for signing Argentinian starlet Eric Lamela, a surprising twist occurred as the capital club are actually hours away from completing the deal. Various reports from Italy suggested that Sabatini is actually covering up the deal as a deal supposedly have been struck by River Plate’s representative with the Giallorossi director, which will see the player’s arrival with a fee around 12 million Euro plus bonuses.
Rumors claim that the official announcement might be coming shortly as all of the basic requirements have been agreed by both parties, resulting in the Argentinian youngster to sign a five year deal worth 1,5 million Euro per-season. The young starlet is being rumored to arrive at the capital on Friday and sign the contract after possibly taking the required medical test, but nothing official has been released either from the player’s representative nor As Roma’s management.
Earlier, Sabatini squashed away the rumors about potential Lamela’s arrival to Rome by saying that they have given up on the player but it seems that the Italian press believes the statements was just a plan to cover up the whole transfer process. Something that is commonly done especially in Italy, although it’s not actually how the Giallorossi’s director usually worked since he normally said every potential deal out loud instead of hiding it to the media.
Beside Roma, Lamela is also linked with other Italian giants such as Ac Milan, Inter and Napoli, now it seems that the Giallorossi becomes the eventual winner for the race, which is actually not a surprise thing. In terms of needs, the capital side are the one that could use the youngster’s service more since they are rebuilding a new team under former Barcelona B coach, Luis Enrique.
