Milos Krasic scored a hat-trick to give Juventus their first win of the season and move them up to 9th place in the Serie A table. Juve’s other summer signing Loenardo Bonucci also got his name on the score sheet in what was a convincing victory for under fie coach Luigi Del Neri.
Playing at home to Cagliari, Juventus were seeking to erase the painful memories of their 3-1 mid week loss to Palermo at the same venue. Del Neri was obviously disappointed with loss and offered his apology to the fans who thought that the Bianconeri would win their first match of the season.
“I am sorry for the fans who supported us throughout the match, but the side needs to work harder in order to satisfy them.
“We need to be determined in defence and the team also needs to be more physical.”
The side heeded Del Neri’s advise and worked harder to beat Cagliari 4-2. Speaking to the press after the match, Del Neri still maintained that Juventus neede to work harder if they were to challenge for the scudetto.
“We chose to play a physical side partly because of player fatigue, partly because the league requires this type of player,” the boss told Sky Sport post-match. “We still have work to do, as when we believe we have reached a milestone, we then go through a negative period, like we did against Palermo.”
On Krasic’s display Del Neri had this to say: “We are not dependant on Krasic. We do not want to be dependant on one single player,” added the coach. “The players must think about working hard, and no one will dispute the qualities they individually possess.
Del Neri faces an even stiffer challenger when he prepares his side to face defending champions Inter Milan on October 3 at the San Siro. The Italian Derby is one of the most anticipated matches of the season and with Juventus steadily improving, it should provide the best of the Serie A.
