Juventus once again managed to take full advantage over Ac Milan’s slip in Serie A as Antonio Conte’s side extended their gap at the top into three points after trashing As Roma 4-0 at their own back yard.
Although there’s still five matches left in the league, but Conte’s boys might already be breathing the Scudetto air as on paper their remaining schedule are easier than the Rossoneri, but obviously a dramatic turns of events could still occurs should Juve players already feeling on top.
Playing after their rival again this weekend, Juventus players obviously acknowledged that a victory will get them inch closer to the Scudetto title so they simply started with their regular full throttle mode right from the start in search of early goals. Just as the stage was simply set for them, Roma are pretty much known as an inconsistent slow starters, which once again shown as Luis Enrique’s side were already two goals down in just under 10 minutes.
Chilean midfielder, Arturo Vidal, got the beating of Il Lupi as his left foot started the battering after only four minute, followed with a right foot effort not long after that, putting Enrique’s team under pressure earlier on. Just when Roma eventually started to get into their game, bad luck arrives as Juve earned a spot kick which also resulted in the sending off for the visitor’s goalie, Marteen Stekelenburg, a rather harsh decision considering there was minimum contact between the goalie and Claudio Marchisio.
Andrea Pirlo stepped up to take the spot kick but actually missed out as it was saved by stand in goalie, Gianluci Curci, but luckily, the rebound arrived right in front of Pirlo, who pounced on his second opportunity. Losing three goals with a man down simply made things difficult for the capital club as they looked disjointed already even before the first half whistle blown by the referee as Enrique’s men simply felt that it wasn’t going to be their day once again.
Not much action happened in the second half, although Juve did scored another goal from Marchisio who blasted a fine shot from just outside of the penalty area that beat Curci all ends up. That goal however, pretty much the final highlight of the tie as both teams seemed content with the result, although the capital club obviously didn’t enjoy the fixture but considering the situation they simply believed conceding four was bad enough already.
This result simply puts Juventus back on top in the Scudetto race, although Milan isn’t completely gone as just yet but the Rossoneri obviously need to step up their performance again in the upcoming fixtures. The victory also marked Conte’s side sixth consecutive victories, a pretty convincing form indeed from the Turin giant, whilst keeping their undefeated record ridiculously still in tack this season.
