Is Ciro Ferrara the man to blame for Juve’s under performance? Well, according to club President Jean-Claude Blanc, there is no other. Juventus lost again on Thursday night when they were beaten 2-1 by Inter in the Italian Cup to leave the Turin outfit with no hope of winning silverware for a 2nd successive season.
A decision on Ferrara’s future will be arrived at today and according to reports, Thursday’s game could have been Ferrara’s last. Mr Blanc revealed that his club failed to meet one of its objectives in Winning the Italian Cup and that there is a lot of disappointment at the moment. Juve’s replacement is rumored to be current Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez.
Frankly, with the way things are in England, a Benitez move to Italy would not surprise me. Liverpool are not doing to well either. In fact, just like Juventus, they have also been bundled out of all major competitions and they are now only playing for pride.
However, wouldn’t it be wise for Juve to go for a coach who is on the peak of his game? They say opposites attract but in Juve’s case, the reverse will be true if they sign Benitez. It must be really hard on Juve fans to see their team having a bad campaign. And it might even get worse when they face Lazio without a coach!
