As one unbeaten run came to a close in England, another ws sustained in Italy as the magic hands of Italy and Juventus keeper Gianluigi Buffon earned the Bianconeri a 1-1 draw with Roma.
It’s been interesting to see how the Italian Serie A is playing out these past couples of weeks. Many did not expect the likes of Lazio, Napoli and Udinese to put up such a stiff fight for such a long time.
Juve’s latest result sees them take their unbeaten run in the league to 14 games. Folowing their result, Juve moved back to the top of the league level on 30 points with Udinese. Defending Champions Milan are in third place just 2 points of the lead.
Roma seemed destined for a famous victory after the referee handed them a controversial penalty that captain Totti stepped up to take. The skipper was not lucky as Buffon was equal to the task saving the shot and giving Juventus a huge break.
With the league expected to take a break in the next few days, some interesting matches to take note of are: Genoa v Inter, Lazio v Udinese on Dec 18th and Napoli v Roma on the same day.
Meanwhile, AC Milan defender Taye Taiwo is frustrated with the lack of first team appearances for the Rossoneri. Arriving as a free transfer at the end of the season, Taiwo has made only 4 appearances this season.
Speaking to L’Equipe. Taiwo said that he was starting to get impatient about hi situation.
“I am suffering every day because I don’t get to play football. I joined this club in order to play, but I have made only six appearances so far,” he said.
“I don’t understand how things work in Italy. Sometimes I even have to watch from the stands, but I really need to play in order to show what I can do.
“It looks like [coach Massimiliano] Allegri doesn’t have faith in me. It’s not like me to just sit back and do nothing in a situation like this.”
To be honest, i really feel for Taiwo. If you have watched him as a Marseille player, then you know how passionate he is about the game. What is even worse, is that Taiwo is way younger and more agile than most of the players getting a nod before.
It would be a real shame if the Nigerian left Milan without having any meaningful involvement for the club.
