Juve Held As Milan Reduces Gap

Looks like the Serie A will go down to the wire after last night’s round of fixtures. Leaders Juventus were held to a 1-1 home draw thanks thanks to an 85th minute goal  from Luis Fernando Muriel Fruto after Juventus no 1 Gigi Buffon’s error. The draw coupled with Milan’s 2-0 win over Atalanta means that the gap between the two rivals was reduced to just 1 point with 2 games left to play.

Juventus still remain unbeaten in the league and should easily walk away with the Scudetto if they win in their two remaining games against Cagliari and Atalanta a fact their coach Antonio Conte easily recognised at the end of the 90 minutes.

“It’s clear that this is a setback for us. We must win our remaining two games now. However, I’d have happily signed for this situation if you’d told me we’d be here earlier this year,” Conte told Sky Sports Italia.

“It was an unfortunate incident with Gigi, but these things happen. He’s still had a great season. This is football, and it’s something from the past now.”

Meanwhile in Milan, news of Lecce equaliser in the 85th minute was greeted by a roar from the home fans who were at the time leading Atalanta 1-0 at the San Siro. Second half substitute Robinho however, sealed the win with a second goal deep in extra time.

Speaking after the match, Allegri who had to clear the air over his future with the club said:

“I will be the coach of Milan next season. I’m 100 percent sure about that,” Allegri said.

“Berlusconi told me again this morning that he’s satisfied with my work, and I don’t think that he also needs to say it publicly.”

If Milan are to win the title then they will have to do it the hard way. A fixture against Inter this Sunday followed by an easier match against Novara are the two games Milan are left with. However, even that won’t help as Juve have either draw or lose in their last two games for them to pip them to first place.
