Jose Mourinho was hoping to bring one of the best left-back in the game right now as he hoped to sign Ashley Cole from EPL club, Chelsea. However, after Chelsea have been reluctant to do business, Jose Mourinho decided to move on and look elsewhere.
There is no doubt that Ashley Cole can be a huge addition at Real Madrid and after watching them play last night, I can see how they just might need a left-back of Cole’s caliber in order to secure their chances in winning the league. But this will not be the case anymore and it will be interesting in seeing who Mourinho will be deciding to bring over to Los Blancos.
“Carlo Ancelotti was very, very clear and that’s the best way in football. He killed the story by saying, ‘No money can buy Ashley Cole, Ashley Cole needs to stay’. I think Ashley thought about leaving for personal and professional reasons. We thought about him because he’s a good player who I enjoyed working with. But when a coach says no, it’s no, and we have to accept that.”
With Ashley Cole having considered a move away from Stamford Bridge after a number of incidents including the falling apart of his marriage with Cheryl Tweedy, it looks like Ancelotti is keen on keeping him with the club and you really can’t blame him. Ashley Cole is great at playing his role, and is one of the best to play his position, with Chelsea looking to repeat their season as league champions and adding the Champion’s League to their case, there chances are much great with Cole on the field.
In addition to bring Cole to Madrid, it was also stated that Mourinho was interested in the services of Frank Lampard as well. However, after having thought hard about whether or not to try and acquire the services of Lampard, Mourinho felt that he is too far along in his career and the price to bring him over to Madrid will be too much.
“It was the same when I tried to take Frank Lampard to Inter. It’s not a problem for Inter to pay the millions Frank had in Chelsea or for Real to pay the millions Steven has in Liverpool. The problem is for the club to buy a player of 30 years who you cannot then sell.” Mourinho went on to say in a recent statement.
