Italy’s friendly draw against Romania was a chance for Prandelli to experiment with a young side and the former Fiorentina boss did just that giving rising starlet Mario Balotelli the opportunity to wear the legendary number 10 jersey.
However, the match was not all rosy as the Ghanaian born Italian was once again the centre of attention as the ugly head of racism reared its head. These latest happenings have understandably left Balotelli very upset and fed up.
Speaking to the press right after the match, a despondent Balotelli was speechless.
“Honestly, I don’t know what to say,”
“If I have to hear those chants every time, you can’t go forward like that. I leave others to do the judgment. I am happy to be in the national team.”
However, this is an issue that just will not end anytime soon. UEFA has put in place plans that will see matches abandoned when racist chants begin. Both Prandelli and Giancarlo Abete-the FIGC president condemned the actions. Saying there were disgusted and that quick action must be taken against the perpetrates.
“Until June I am certainly at Manchester City. I have a five-year contract and can’t say anything.
“It’s true that I had dinner with Adriano Galliani after the derby, but what does that mean? If I had dinner with Massimo Moratti would you say I was returning to Inter?
When asked about what he thought of partnering Ibrahimovic in attack, this is what he had to say:
Ah, Ibra and I would make a very strong pairing.”
