With poor results in the Champions League last year, many critics have been reporting that Italy’s Serie A football is fading away into oblivion. They say the Italian League is also losing out their star player’s interest to England’s Premier League and Spain’s La Liga.
Huge money-making clubs, like Real Madrid, have grabbed the foreign footballers interest with reckless transfer purchases and excellent tax rates that can help support the star players down the road. It seems with all this spending done by Spain’s Real Madrid and even Barcelona to land iconic players, like Kaka and possibly Ibrahimovic, that soon there will be little reason for foreign stars to join Serie A football simply because they very well could be traded away in no time.
Another serious Seri A loss this off season was the departure of manager Carlo Ancelotti from AC Milan. The coach has moved over to the Premier League and will now be in charge of Chelsea. Many of the coach’s former players are rumored to be on the way out the door including Pato. But regardless of the rumors, losing accomplished coaches and great players is never a good thing, even if it is paying off a large debt.
Fortunately, the transfer situation is not as bad as some people build it up to be. Serie A will welcome many new great players next season. This list includes Brazilian captain Lucio who will be joining Inter from Bayern Munich, Javier Pastore joins Palermo from Huracan, Diego joins Juventus from Werder Bremen, Rodrigo Palacio joins Genoa from Boca Juniors, and Samuel Eto’o is rumored to be on his way over to Inter from Barcelona.
Serie A might have lost a few stars, but with excellent squads like Inter and AC Milan, the future will always be bright.
