Inter Milan kept their Champions League dream alive after picking up a surprising victory over home team Udinese at Friuli, thanks to Wesley Sneijder’s brace along with Ricky Alvarez strike who canceled out Danilo’s opener.
This result is very positive indeed for Inter as they managed to equal Udinese’s point, putting them sitting on sixth place just three points away from current third place, Lazio.
Inter didn’t really started the match convincingly as the were already a goal down after only six minutes when Danilo’s screamer stormed passed Julio Cesar on the Nerazzurri’s goal. The goal actually made the home team looking much more dangerous but against the run of play, the visitor scored a bizarre goal as a rather tame Sneijder effort bubbled in front of Samir Handanovic, forcing the Udinese goalie to make a howler of a mistake.
That equalizer apparently made Inter settled more and midway into that first period, Sneijder doubled the visitor’s lead when he chipped the ball passed Handanovic, who once again could be questioned for his rash effort. Udinese pushed even harder after conceding that second goal, but simply left the door wide open for the Nerazzurri to pounce and it was Alvarez who instead sealed the deal for the visitor with an angled drive inside of the far post.
Trailing 3-1 in the first half, Udinese were going all out right from the re-start and created several opportunities that unfortunately they couldn’t convert. Despite working hard until the final 90, Francesco Guidolin’s team still can’t get any additional goal, allowing Andrea Stramaccioni’s side bagging all three points which eventually made the third place chase gets more interesting from with few games left to play only.
