Inter Closing In On Forlan ?

Forlán anotando en la Final de la Copa América 2011With the departure of Samuel Eto’o looking imminent in the next few days, Inter Milan are reportedly moving swiftly in searching for potential replacement, after reports about Carlos Tevez’s being the strong candidates, latest rumors linking the Nerazzurri closely with Diego Forlan.

Unlike, Tevez, the chance in acquiring Forlan looks really promising for the Beneamata as financially Inter won’t have any issue in prizing up the Uruguyan international attacker.

Making things more convincing for Inter, Forlan himself  reportedly has already confirmed the talks with the fashion capital side and not only that, the striker also confessed his excitement at the opportunity to play with the Nerazzurri this summer. Although at the moment the Uruguayan international’s club, Atletico Madrid, still wants to keep the striker, but all would change once they can finalized the deal to grab FC Porto’s attacker, Radamel Falcao, who is closely linked with a move to Atletico soon.

Rumors in Italy also suggesting that Inter would make an offer around 10 million Euro with wages about 4 million per year, a pretty good offer indeed for a 32-years-old striker, who hasn’t had a great season with Atletico last term. Financially, acquiring Forlan would be the best bid for Inter as they won’t need to pay crazy sums, unlike what would definitely needed should the Nerazzurri are eying to get Tevez instead. The big issue would be whether the Uruguayan could fill in the boot that Eto’o left since the ex-Villareal striker is obviously aging and probably still need some adaptation time to play in Italy.

However, Forlan’s big name might yet be something that could temporarly redeem the fans disappointment in losing an important and quality player such as Eto’o, who was the Nerazzurri’s top scored last season. One thing for sure, should the Uruguayan international does arrive at San Siro, he will be given such a high expectation in helping the Italian outfit in winning some titles this summer and also to compensate on the loss of Eto’o.
