Andres Iniesta was truly disappointed with Barcelona’s failure in reaching the Champions League final after being eliminated by Chelsea, but the Spanish international midfielder believes that his team will come back stronger after this current slump.
Just like some of his teammates, Iniesta also believes that Barca’s elimination from Chelsea was not a fair result for them, considering how dominate they were in the two legs, but he believes this situation will eventually be solved by them.
“Football has been unjust in this tie. That’s just the way it is. We once again dominated the match, but little things can be decisive in football. Barcelona will be back, though. We play football because we love what we do, and we do it for those who always support us and suffer as much as we do,” Iniesta said.
Iniesta himself actually managed to grab a goal on the second leg tie, but overall once again failed to impose his game just like what happened in the first meeting against Chelsea. The Spanish international, who has been troubled with several small injuries this season, apparently still hasn’t able to get his performance back into his previous best.
Many pundits believed that beside Lionel Messi, Iniesta and Xavi also failed to give their best performances in the two matches against Chelsea, something that simply didn’t help Barca’s effort in advancing into the final. Those three players have always been known as the main strength of the Catalan army and despite claiming luck wasn’t on their side, Barca can’t really denied that they weren’t playing at their best in the two semifinal against Roberto Di Matteo’s squad.
