Important Step Set to be Taken by Guardiola After Champions League Exit

Guest Post, April 25, 2012September 25, 2013

Barcelona’s failure in reaching the Champions League final along with their league defeat against Real Madrid previously, could very well lead into a certain important decision made by the club’s management including their tactician, Pep Guardiola.

This indication was hinted by Guardiola himself, who during the press conference after the game between Barcelona against Chelsea, admitted that he will held talks with the Catalan’s management to discuss about his and the club’s future.

“In the next few days we will decide if I stay or not, I will speak with my assistant [Tito Vilanova] and president Sandro Rosell and then we will decide what is best for the club. We will talk about everything, about the club’s situation, and we will make a decision because evidently now is the time,” Guardiola said.

This statement pretty much leads mostly to Guardiola’s future with the club, whether he will extend or simply leave Barcelona, both will definitely be an important step towards the Catalan’s future. Many suggested the tactician’s hesitant in signing a new deal up till now becomes one of the reasons why Blaurgrana players are having a dip of form as they probably isn’t feeling secure should Guardiola really leaves the club.

Speculation over the former Barcelona B’s tactician has sparked midway this season, mostly due to him not agreeing an extension with the Blaugrana, despite already being given a new contract for another year, just like he usually wanted. Reports have been linking Guardiola with host of top clubs, such as Inter Milan, Chelsea and the latest one, Ac Milan, since the Spaniard has become a favorite of Rossoneri’s owner, Silvio Berlusconi.
