It’s hard to pity these Barca boys, but Zlatan Ibrahimovic has had an extremely rare goal drought that is about to surpass two total months without a league goal. It seems shocking that the Serie A legend and recent transfer over to the treble winners would go even two or three weeks without a goal, but the Swedish goal scoring extraordinaire has not scored a single league goal since December 12th.
Now Ibs did score one goal against Sevilla in the Copa del Rey, but that one goal was one too few. Barcelona’s perfection ended with a aggregate tie that saw Sevilla advance to the next round due to scoring more away goals then the tournament’s defending champs. Ibs was not very happy about this ruling either:
The team have won everything and want to continue like that. It’s impressive. I only regret what happened to us in the Copa del Rey. I think we deserved to go through because Sevilla are not better than us, but in football these things happen.
It is true that Barcelona is the better team (duh!), but sometimes you have to lose. And sometimes you have to struggle to find the back of the net. But if I were a gambling man then i would bet Ibrahimovic scores this weekend. He is playing against a much improved Atletico Madrid squad from the beginning of the year, but the club is known to give up some goals. And if there is one attribute Zlatan has in common with his new club, it is that scoring goals is fun and easy.
Even if you are currently experiencing a drought.
