Ibrahimovic Inspired Milan Edged Pass Roma

Ac Milan temporarily extend their gap with Juventus into seven points after picking up a dramatic 2-1 victory over As Roma in a very tense match, which could’ve ended more favorably for the home team should they scored their chances.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic was the Rossoneri’s hero once again this weekend as the Swedish scored all of his team’s goals in the second half, canceling Pablo Osvaldo’s striker which gave the visitor a temporary lead.

Playing ahead of their rival Juventus due to important Champions League date on midweek, Milan started the match in a vigorous manner as they looked eager to get an early goal which could give them a little break ahead of their important European schedule. The Rossoneri were successfully harassing Roma players in the first 20 minutes and should probably took the advantage if not for some sloppy plays in the final third, which led to some wasted chances.

Those inability to take an early advantage apparently troubled Milan as when Roma started to get some control on the ball and create some openings, the Rossoneri players started to get a little haste in their build up play. Lack of creative player in the middle of the pitch was became visible when the visitor starting to get Daniele De Rossi into the game, spraying his passes all around the pitch making things thick.

Still the match were rather even but the visitor get a lucky break in the final minutes before half time break when a mess up clearance from Massimo Ambrosini found De Rossi, who assisted Pablo Osvaldo inside the penalty area. The Italian international didn’t waste his chance and took the lead in a rather unfair manner since the Rossoneri didn’t really deserver to be a goal down considering the way they started.

In the second half, Milan were trying to immediately get back into the game and once again pushing up high on the pitch which sometimes leaves some gap open at the back. After Francesco Totti missed a golden chance to extend Roma’s lead, the Rossoneri started their comeback with a penalty goal by Ibrahimovic which was earned after De Rossi handled Ambrosini’s shot inside the penalty area.

The Swedish perfectly netted the penalty and eventually made the game became much more interesting with Milan once again having the better of chances with Ibrahimovic and Muntari missing two golden opportunities. However, just when the game looked to be heading for a draw, the ex-Barcelona man grabbed a lovely goal out of nowhere as he latched on to Sulley Muntari’s long pass and flick the ball passed Marten Stekelenburg on Roma’s goal before brushing of Simon Kjaer challenge and heading the ball into the net.
