Barcelona picked up a great player as they went on to sign Dutch winger Ibrahim Afellay from PSV. The young 24-year old has impressed many clubs but it’s Barcelona who the Dutchman has signed with. A deal that will see him earn €3 million for 4 years; Afellay is excited to be joining on of the best Football clubs in the World.
“Ibrahim Afellay signed the deal at 11 o’clock this morning. The 24-year old’s contract is for four and a half years and includes a €100 million buyout clause.” Is what a statement read on Barca’s official page Friday evening.
Afellay is excited about making the switch to Barcelona but knows it will not be easy to have an impact early on. The former PSV player went on to say the following,
“I’ll wear the Barça colours with pride and respect. Barça is more than a club, Happy Christmas and Visca Barça! When I was a kid, I wanted to play for Barça – it was a dream. We all know that it is the best place to play football and when I heard about their interest I didn’t think twice, I just felt – sign now and close the deal quickly. That’s normal at a club like this where there are so many quality players, but I’ll fight for my place. I don’t mind where I play –wherever the boss wants me, I’ll do my very best. [The team is] fast and has a really high level. Every new player who comes in has to find his position in the team and that’s what I will do.”
