Ibra, Heading Back To Italy

Kickoff: AC Milan hosts ParmaBarcelona striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic is now the property of AC Milan. The Swedish striker’s exit from Camp Nou was expected this summer after the addition of Spanish star David Villa from rival club Valencia. And due to falling down the depth chart, Ibrahimovic’s role with the team became expendable and the Swede was reportedly unhappy with his current situation in Spain.

And now after the $24 million transfer deal has been set with the Italian side Ibrahimovic decided to speak his mind once again about his former side. Ibrahimovic has accused his former boss Pep Guardiola of ruining his “dream” in Spain and even accused the coach of avoiding him in recent weeks. Ibra’s quote regarding his broken relationship with his former manager:

He is the philosopher who has broken my dream of being at Barcelona. The coach did not want me and I will not waste any more time. I want to retrieve my love of football with another team. I leave with more motivation and the strength to do better. In football, things can change within 24 hours.

You need to talk to him, it is he who has the problem, and I do not know what it is. I am very happy, because I am going to Milan.

And this type of thing was destined to happen considering Ibra’s bitter nature regarding being snubbed for Villa. Prior to the Spaniard’s arrival it was already being debated whether or not Ibra was a good enough fit alongside Messi as a secondary striker and following a brilliant track record in Italy a move back would make perfect sense for all parties involved.

Having already performed well for Juventus and Inter, AC Milan was one of the few powerhouse teams left to claim ownership of the former Serie A Golden Boot winner. And Ibra of course labeled Italian football “dirty” a year back when he moved to Barcelona, so I’m sure there will be a few former rivals anticipating their first match against the new AC Milan man.
