If there is one player who Milan have failed to utilise this season it must be Huntelaar. The Dutchman joined Milan in the summer after being “kicked out” of Real Madrid because of being a surplus to their needs.
In only a couple of games, Huntelaar has scored 3 goals. This a pale shadow of his impressive goal scoring record while at Ajax where he scored 76 goals in 92 appearances. I believe that if the “hunter” would have been given more time to come into the squad, Milan would definitely be leading the table so far.
Milan are now on the verge of completing a loan deal that will see Huntelaar play out the remainder of the season at German club Hamburg SV. Huntelaar cost the rossoneri quite a good some of money, 15 million Euros to be exact when he was bought from “Los Merengues”. He signed a four year deal that was meant to keep him at the San Siro until June 2013.
I think that maybe Milan fans have seen the last of Huntelaar because the club will want to use him as a bargaining chip when they try to lure Bosnian international Edin Dzeko in the summer. Makes me wonder what will happen if the tables suddenly turn on their great winning streak. Who will they look up to to get the goals? I purely understand Huntelaar’s reasons for leaving. I mean, who would want to miss the opportunity to play in a World Cup? Milan better have a good back up plan in case things start getting ugly.
