Jose Mourinho was not to pleased with the UEFA Champions League lottery draw his side, Inter, saw last Friday. In fact the former Chelsea man was likely furious with the bad luck his championship squad received.
Mourinho’s Inter will be given the all too familiar test of facing his former squad, Chelsea, in the sixteen team knockout round. Meaning that Mourinho will return to Stamford Bridge for the first time as a coach of any other team. And the two time Premier League title owner likely wishes that his Inter squad had drawn any other squad in the world except for Chelsea, but the boys must be up for the competition.
Inter has been the team of misfortune so far in the UEFA Champions League. Already surviving from playing with Barcelona in the group stages, the squad will get a chance of arguably playing the two best squads in the world prior to the quarterfinals of the competition.
And the Chelsea-Inter rivalry is even more interesting this season with the possibility that this could be Mourinho’s last season in Serie A. The legendary coach that broke the Blues fifty year titleless draught in the early 2000’s is keen on a move back to the Premier League and has entertained the idea of possibly replacing Alex Ferguson down the road once the iconic coach decides it is his time to retire.
But who knows if that will ever happen and for now make no mistake, Mourinho is with Inter.
And the coach that always wins titles is looking to add another coveted trophy to that collection. This time for Inter though.
