Despite loosing their young superstar, Stevan Jovetic, who recently picked up a knee injury which forced him sidelined for about eight months, Fiorentina doesn’t see the necessity in looking for Jovetic’s replacement on the market.
According to their new coach, Sinijsa Mihaljovic, although Jovetic’s loss will be felt by his team, the former Catania coach is convinced that Fiorentina still have the players that can replace the Montenegrin.
Naming the candidates to take over the young fantasista’s place, Mihaljovic revealed that he expect Adam Ljajic and Adrian Mutu can be the solution his looking for.
“I don’t think we’ll be re-entering the transfer market. We have suffered a major loss, but I have players here who have the ability to step in for Jovetic. I’m thinking of people like Adem Ljajic who gives his best as an attacking midfielder and I’m expecting a lot from Adrian Mutu,” Mihaljovic stated. “The latter looks really motivated and he is a player who I have always considered untouchable on the transfer market.”
With Mutu still have to face a ban, it looks like Ljajic will indeed be given a chance to show his worth especially at the start of the season. Surely it will be an important step for the young Serbian player, who only managed 9 league appearance last season, to fulfill all of his potential that attracted the interested of Manchester United not so long ago.
Next season will surely be a difficult season for the Viola as not only they will be losing their young talisman, the club have already part ways with their charismatic coach, Cesare Prandelli, who has been appointed as Italian national team’s manager. Starting the competition with a new coach with squad full of youngsters, it would surely be interesting to see whether Mihaljovic can fulfill his promise of getting Fiorentina back challenging for the Champions League spot.
